Basma Kenaya is a a proud Chaldean American born in Baghdad, Iraq. Her family immigrated to San Diego, CA, in 2003, seeking safety and new opportunities. San Diego, with its vibrant Iraqi community, has become her cherished home away from home.

Since 2007, she have been deeply committed to higher education, beginning her journey as a work-study student at the Office of Admissions and Records at Cuyamaca Community College. This experience ignited her passion for supporting students and has since shaped her career. She earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Diego State University in 2011 and she has spent the past decade working closely with Active Service Members, Veterans, Retired Military personnel, and their families.

Her professional expertise includes certifying and processing student enrollments, managing Post-9/11 GI Bill and Vocational Rehabilitation
payments, handling Post-9/11 Debt Letters, and overseeing tuition assistance vouchers. It has been a profound honor to assist those who have served and sacrificed for our country. She is delighted to be a part of The Military and Veterans Program at the University of San Diego and is eager to contribute to the success of our graduate students.
