Established in the early 1990s, the University Archives contains documents, photographs, media, publications, and memorabilia. It serves as an historical and educational resource by providing research assistance and access to its collections, and through the creation of exhibits.

Finding Aids
Finding Aids for University records and documents are available through Digital USD. Before you schedule your visit to the Archives Reading Room to see these collections in person, please consult the finding aid to help you determine what material you will need to request.
University Publications
We also maintain a collection of University Publications. If you are looking for a specific title, author, or subject, you can use the search box on the library's main webpage to see if that publication is available through the University Archives. Some USD publications are also available online. These digitized publications can be found by searching Digital USD. For example: The Vista and USD Magazine along with other news publications are available in the USD News Collection in the Archives and Special Collections section of the repository. Other digitized publication collections include:
USD Theses and Dissertations
The University Archives holds print copies for all USD Theses and Dissertations submitted before 2015. After Digital USD was established in 2015, print copies were no longer required. You can browse the print copies by using the search box on the library’s main webpage. Most of the pre-2015 dissertations are now available through Digital USD, but the majority of pre-2015 masters theses are only available in print. You can browse the entire print theses collection in the online catalog or by using the search box on the library’s main webpage for specific subjects, authors, or academic programs.
University of San Diego Website Archive
We have been archiving USD’s websites since 2018. The University of San Diego Website Archive includes the main University of San Diego website, websites for USD athletics, student media, and the Alumni Association, and social media sites related to the university. For earlier versions of USD’s websites, you can search the Internet Archives’ Wayback Machine.
