Scholarly Publishing

Open access (OA) publishing ensures broader reach, with higher visibility and sharing, for articles in a timely manner without an embargo to readers. Copley Library actively supports open access and provides University of San Diego-affiliated authors with avenues to offset the costs of OA publishing, including institutional agreements with publishers that provide library-subsidized, fully waived or partially waived open access publishing opportunities. With the library's Open Access Publishing guide and Open Journal Finder you can:

• Check to see if a specific publisher offers a reduced or waived APC publishing fee
• Find eligibility requirements for journals, authors, and type of articles
• View a recorded OA Publishing workshop led by Copley faculty
• Contact your liaison librarian or the Senior Electronic and Open Content Librarian for more information

Digital USD is the institutional repository for the University of San Diego. An essential goal of this site is to collect, preserve, and share the scholarly and creative work produced by members of the University of San Diego community. With Digital USD, you can:

• Archive your published works to expand the impact of your scholarship
• Host conferences and events and publish proceedings
• Manage and publish peer-reviewed journals
• Publish digital books

The library offers a number of ways to help USD faculty and students navigate scholarly communication and publishing. The library can:

• Connect you to Open Access publishing agreements to help offset the cost of OA publishing
• Assist in submitting your work to Digital USD, USD's institutional repository
• Help you measure and increase the impact of your scholarship
• Provide consultations on copyright and use of copyrighted materials, as well as authors rights
• Help you comply with open access and data sharing mandates
• Develop plans for managing and preserving your research data and scholarship
• Publish peer-reviewed journals and host conference websites

Copley Library publishes USD theses and dissertations in collaboration with the Graduate Records office.
