Sarina Chugani Molina currently serves as assistant professor in the Department of Learning and Teaching. Her dissertation research focused on teacher development and cultural competence as it relates to their work with culturally and linguistically diverse students. She brings with her experience of teaching Japanese as a foreign language and English as a second language primarily to adults at the community college and university level. She has taught multilevel English learners at the noncredit sector in Palomar College and was a credit instructor for the academic reading and writing courses at MiraCosta College. She also serves as the program director and trains teachers internationally in TESOL, a program she designed for the English Language Academy at the University of San Diego. She teaches "Introduction to Second Language Acquisition Theories" and "Methods of Teaching Literacy for ESL" courses in the M.Ed. in Literacy, Culture and TESOL program and the "First and Second Language Development and Structure for the Classroom Teacher" course for all credential students in the Learning and Teaching department, School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. Her research interests include language acquisition, multicultural education, adult development.
