2024 Engineering and Computing Showcase

SMSE Showcase

Come one come all to USD's Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering annual Engineering & Computing Showcase. Graduating seniors in computer science and electrical, industrial and systems, integrated and mechanical engineering will present and demonstrate their innovative capstone design projects in the Belanich Engineering Center and in the adjoining Guadalupe Hall patio.

Through the capstone design experience at USD’s Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, students work within interdisciplinary teams on an open-ended senior design project to understand and execute the full cycle of the design process. Capstone design projects range across six categories — industry sponsored, entrepreneurship, competition, community, software and research — and allow engineering and computer science seniors to apply knowledge learned throughout their undergraduate career in a real-world scenario.

Interdisciplinary teams work collaboratively with faculty members and project stakeholders to carry ideas from initial design through prototype fabrication, testing and evaluation to validate their solutions. As Changemakers, our seniors also consider issues related to ethics, economics, safety and professional practice in their design solutions.

From industry partner and entrepreneurship projects to community and software projects, this event will not disappoint. Come for an hour, stay for the entire event! Paid parking is available. Support our pioneering engineers and computer scientists and watch them shine!
