SAN DIEGO (March 22, 2024) - University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumna Audrey Surridge ’17 (JD) will be honored with a 2024 San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Service Award. The Annual Service Awards celebrate the contributions and commitment of distinguished individuals and organizations serving both the San Diego legal community and the public. Award winners will be recognized at the SDCBA's Annual Awards Ceremony & Celebration of Community Service on May 14 at The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter.

Surridge will be receiving the Service by a New Lawyer Award, for demonstrating outstanding service by a new lawyer who, during their first seven years in practice, has demonstrated a significant commitment to serving the legal profession, the justice system, or the SDCBA through legal education, mentoring, or community service. 

Currently, Surridge is an associate at Fisher Phillips in the firm’s San Diego office. She represents employers in a variety of employment disputes, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, California Private Attorneys General Act and wage and hour matters. Surridge also frequently conducts workplace investigations and counsels her clients in developing effective policies and practices.

Her previous experience includes advising local, regional, and national clients in a variety of legal matters involving general civil litigation, employment litigation, warranty litigation, construction defect, bankruptcy, and insurance defense. Prior to her career as an attorney, Surridge worked for a global consulting firm serving the full spectrum of business, financial, medical, union, education and nonprofit organizations. This experience allows her to bring a unique perspective to the practice of employment defense and solving her client’s concerns.

In law school, Surridge externed for the Honorable M. James Lorenz in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, served as President of the Women’s Law Caucus and Vice Magister of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Society, and volunteered over 100 pro bono hours. 

Surridge is Lawyers Club of San Diego’s 2023-24 President. Previously Vice President of the Professional Development section, Surridge has also served as co-chair of the Annual Dinner, Professional Advancement Committee, and Law Student Outreach Committee. She joined Lawyers Club as a law student and, because she was inspired by so many of Lawyers Club’s leaders, she immediately became involved.
