University of San Diego Board Welcomes Three New Trustees

The University of San Diego announced three new members to its Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2022: Jacqueline Dupont Carlson ‘89 (BS), Sister Suzanne Cooke and Timothy Scott '96 (JD).

“We are excited to welcome three exceptional individuals to the Board who exemplify stewardship and commitment,” said President James T. Harris III, DEd. “Their wealth of experience and dedication will help us achieve our vision of setting the standard as an engaged, contemporary Catholic university committed to preparing compassionate and ethical leaders.”

Jacqueline Dupont Carlson ‘89 (BS) is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dupont Residential Care, Inc., Assured In Home Care, Inc., former owner of Vista Gardens, LLC, and former owner of Assured Horizons, LLC, senior living. She brings more than 30 years of professional experience working with older adults and the Alzheimer’s community, in addition to serving on several boards and nonprofits. Dupont Carlson graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences. She received her Master of Science in Gerontology and Master of Arts in Public Administration-Health Care Administration at the University of Southern California; her graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Notre Dame; and her Doctorate in Psychology from Ashbourne College. She also graduated from USC with her Doctorate in Education (EdD) in Organizational Development. 

Sister Suzanne Cooke, RSCJ is currently the Provincial of the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States-Canada Province. She recently served as the head of the Conference of Sacred Heart Education and has held numerous leadership positions as an educator. She has served on the board of trustees at several Network of Sacred Heart schools and as a member of the Sacred Heart Commission on Goals, the Network of Sacred Heart Schools board, the Northwest Association of Independent Schools and Florida Council of Independent Schools. In 2000 and 2016, Sister Cooke was a delegate to the General Chapter of the Society of the Sacred Heart, the governing body of the international Society that represents all RSCJ. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History, cum laude, from Manhattanville College, and an interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Timothy Scott '96 (JD) is the President and CEO of DisperSol Technologies, a technology company enhancing the pharmacokinetics of critical medicines. He is the co-founder and Executive Board Chair of TEGA Therapeutics, a glycobiology company focused on lysosomal storage disorders and recombinant heparan sulfates. Scott serves on the board of Avelas, a bioscience company working to create better outcomes for cancer patients with its activatable cell-penetrating peptide technology. He also serves on the board of DTx, a biotechnology company using fatty acid motifs to deliver RNA therapeutics. He serves as Chair of BIOCOM, a non-profit trade organization supporting the needs of 1,600 bio/pharma companies in California. At UC San Diego, he serves on the Dean's Advisory Council for the Division of Biological Sciences. Scott earned his BA in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He earned his JD from the University of San Diego and is a member of the California Bar.

Four trustees, Mark Bosco, Susan Mallory, Sister Carolyn Osiek and Massih Tayebi, will be rotating off the Board after serving for 6, 7, 14 and 3 years, respectively.
