Cubs Choose Bryant in Draft
Chicago Tribune -- The Cubs opted for power over pitching with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 draft, choosing University of San Diego third baseman Kris Bryant.
The 20-year-old Bryant led the nation with 31 home runs in an eye-opening junior season, which was enough for the Cubs to pick him over Oklahoma right-hander Jonathan Gray, the best available pitcher after Stanford right-hander Mark Appel went first to the Astros.
“My family is from Chicago, so that’s awesome I get to share that with them,” Bryant said. (Full Story)
