CEPAL's Julie Zoellin Cramer Recipient of the 2013 Leroy F. Green Design + Planning Award
The American Institute of Architects, California Council, in partnership with the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) announced the recipients of the 2013 Leroy F. Green Design + Planning Awards. Selected by a notable panel of jurors, representing educators and design professionals, these awards recognized new, modernized, and specialty facility projects throughout California.
At the annual CASH school facilities conference, Center for Education Policy and Law (CEPAL) Senior Research Associate, Julie Zoellin Cramer, e3Civic High Executive Director, Dr. Helen Griffith, and Eric Jones of LPA Architects, received the Project-in-Design Award of Honor for e3 Civic High. The presentation highlighted the school design’s ability to successfully link education to the urban culture and judges commented, “We need to look creatively at how we develop our urban schools and this school does that.”
Through a CEPAL project funded by the San Diego Public Library Foundation, Ms. Cramer has worked for three years at the new charter high school’s development team leader.
With a mission to engage, educate and empower, e3 Civic High is scheduled to open this fall on the 6th and 7th floor of the new San Diego Central Library with an incoming class of 250 9th and 10th graders, ultimately serving 500 students in the 9th-12th grades.
