USD Wins Praise in Contest to Aid Society

U-T San Diego -- A team from the University of San Diego got kudos from judges but lost Saturday in the regional finals of a competition in San Francisco to promote social good.

The group from USD’s School of Business Administration was seeking the fourth annual Hult Prize, the world’s largest student competition for social good. This year’s challenge was to develop ideas for social enterprises that can conquer the global food crisis.

Judges were impressed with USD’s plan for collecting unused food from five-star restaurants and hotels in Mumbai, India, and repackaging and reselling it to the poor at affordable prices. (Full Story
