USD Law Professor Miranda McGowan Discusses Supreme Court's Review Prop. 8 on KUSI-TV

San Diego (December 7, 2012) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Professor Miranda McGowan was interviewed on KUSI-TV today to provide expert legal opinion on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to hear arguments involving two cases dealing with marriage equality, including California's Proposition 8.

"This is potentially a very big deal—the Supreme Court has decided for the first time to enter the same-sex marriage debate," commented Professor McGowan. She also pointed out that those who follow this story should be aware that, "Justice Kennedy is the swing vote. [He] wrote the two major opinions expanding rights for gay men and lesbians, written in the last 20 years. I do not think that he wants to write an opinion that says gay men and lesbians have no right under the U.S. Constitution to get married."
