Robert Amador '82 (JD) Elected to San Diego Superior Court

San Diego (November 9, 2012) – On Tuesday, November 6, Robert Amador, ’82 (JD), was elected to San Diego Superior Court, earning 59 percent of the vote. Amador graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1982.

Amador is a veteran deputy district attorney with more than 29 years of experience as a prosecutor in the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. He currently works as a law enforcement liaison between the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement organizations. Amador provides expert advice on search and seizure, interrogation law and general legal. He also has experience in many areas of prosecution, including murder, arson, insurance fraud, gang crimes and crimes against children.

Amador led the Countywide J.U.D.G.E. (Jurisdictions Unified for Drug/Gang Enforcement) task force for 12 years. Under his leadership, prosecutors, law enforcement and probation officers aggressively investigated and prosecuted thousands of gang members, repeat and violent offenders.

In California, Superior Court is the official name for the county-level court that presides over civil, criminal, family, juvenile and probate cases. Superior Court judges can decide life in prison, they can assess millions of dollars in damages and they can decide custody of children. There are more than 110 active Superior Court judges in San Diego County. Judges serve six-year terms.
