EPIC Adds Two New Members to Board of Advisors
The Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC) is pleased to announce that Professor Lesley K. McAllister and Janice Lin have joined the EPIC Board of Advisors. Their bios are provided below.
Lesley K. McAllister
Lesley K. McAllister is Stanley Legro Professor in Environmental Law. She teaches and writes in the areas of environmental, natural resources, and energy law; comparative and international law; administrative law; and property law. Her current research focuses on innovative regulatory approaches in environmental and energy policy.
Prior to joining the USD School of Law faculty, McAllister clerked for the Honorable Fern M. Smith of the Northern District of California from 2004 to 2005. She worked as an attorney for Earthjustice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Before law school, she was an environmental consultant for ENVIRON in New Jersey and the Hualapai Tribe in Arizona, and as an environmental education volunteer for the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. McAllister is an adjunct associate professor at the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at University of California, San Diego. She joined the USD School of Law faculty in 2005.
McAllister was a Fulbright scholar in Spain in spring 2012 and a visiting scholar at the University of California San Diego Center for U.S.–Mexican Studies in fall 2011. Also in 2011, she was named the Seventh Annual Young Scholar by the Wallace Stegner Center at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney School of Law.
McAllister is the faculty advisor to the San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law. She is a member scholar of the Center for Progressive Reform and a primary blog editor of the Environmental Law Prof Blog. She is also a member of the Law and Society Association; the Latin American Studies Association; the American Society of Comparative Law; the State Bar of California; and the American Bar Association (ABA). In the ABA, McAllister served as chair of the environmental law committee of the Section of State and Local Government Law and as liaison to the ABA’s Standing Committee on Environmental Law.
Professor McAlister holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, a JD from Stanford University, and a BSE, Princeton University.
Janice Lin
Janice Lin is founder and managing partner of Strategen Consulting LLC and co-founder of the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA). She brings over a decade of experience in clean energy strategy and market development experience to Strategen, and more than two decades of general corporate strategy experience. During this time Janice has advised a diverse range of clients including renewable energy equipment manufacturers and service providers, large corporations diversifying into clean energy, and real estate developers building sustainable communities.
Janice has been very active in advanced energy storage (AES), having led a successful effort to obtain incentive co-funding for AES through the CA Self Generation Incentive Program. She also recently co-founded the California Energy Storage Alliance (CESA), an inter-industry advocacy group focused on expanding the role of AES technology to promote the growth of renewable energy and a more stable and secure electric system in California.
Prior to founding Strategen in 2005, Janice held several senior management positions with PowerLight Corporation (now SunPower), including Vice President of Product Strategy and Vice President of Business Development. During her tenure at PowerLight, Janice led initiatives in product and new market strategies, business development, regulatory affairs, strategic partnerships, investor relations, and customer finance.
Janice holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a BS from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences.
