"Last Breaths" is cancelled as a preventive measure to reduce risk related to the COVID-19 virus. Visit the university’s COVID-19 website for the most current information for the USD community.
This event is centered around Armando Bayolo's composition "Last Breaths." This composition is based on the last words of six young men who were killed in the last 10 years, and serves as a starting point for a discussion surrounding the violence and systemic marginalization that is faced by black communities in America. L.A.-based baritone Derrell Acon will be featured alongside USD’s Alcala Honors Chamber Winds, comprised of USD faculty and student instrumentalists. The program also includes a new transcription of a work by African American composer Florence Price (1887-1953). Free admission.
