Details

Are you a transcendentalist, a realist or—like Walt Whitman—do you align the two? On the 200th anniversary of Whitman’s birth, the Humanities Center invites students, staff and faculty to an informal shared reading of the works of this American poet, journalist and essayist. Whitman’s investment in the relationship between the poet and the wider world emerges powerfully in his work. Copies of his shorter poems and excerpts of longer works are provided for attendees to select and read aloud.
