The University of San Diego’s Association of Chicana Activists (A.Ch.A.), Alpha Pi Sigma (APS), Folklórico and Mariachi Association (FAMA), and Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/a de Aztlán (M.E.Ch.A.), in collaboration with the United Front Multicultural Center, proudly present the 23rd annual Chicanx/Latinx Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding graduating USD students. This intimate ceremony and reception honors their achievements and provides the opportunity to give thanks to all of their supportive families and friends.

This event was originally called Chicano Graduation, and over the years we have adapted the name to make it more inclusive to students of various backgrounds and identities. The current name, Chicanx/Latinx Graduation allows us to recognize the multiple identities that our graduating students represent. We recognize that gender is not binary when we say “Chicanx” or “Latinx” and we strive to create an inclusive space for those to freely express who they are.

The program will include Spanish/English translation of a faculty congratulatory speech and welcome from alumni speaker Kevin Pelaez, and performances by the Folklórico and Mariachi Association (FAMA) and Mariachi Juvenil de San Diego.

Please join us on Saturday, May 26 at 12 p.m. in Shiley Theatre to witness this milestone in the lives of these young leaders.

This event is open to the public
