CalWORKs

"CalWORKs is a welfare program that gives cash aid and services to eligible needy California families. If a family has little or no cash and needs housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help. Families that apply and qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month to help pay for housing, food and other necessary expenses."

County of San Diego Child Care Administration

"The State of California has some programs that provide child care for some families with limited financial resources. To be eligible for child care services, a family must be participating in CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work activities or have limited income. The Stage 1 child care program is administered through the County of San Diego, and all other programs are administered by other local agencies."

CalFresh (SNAP)

"The CalFresh Program, federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), can add to your food budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table. The program issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores. TheCalFresh Program helps to improve the health and well-being of qualified households and individuals by providing them a means to meet their nutritional needs."

Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)

"WIC is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for women, infants, and children. WIC helps families by providing checks for buying healthy supplemental foods from WIC-authorized vendors, nutrition education, and help finding healthcare and other community services. Participants must meet income guidelines and be pregnant women, new mothers, infants or children under age five."
