Updated USD Face Covering and Testing Guidelines
In light of the decreasing rate of positive COVID-19 cases both in the County of San Diego and on the University of San Diego campus, the university is updating its face covering and testing guidelines as follows:
Updated Face Covering Guidelines
- Effective Monday, March 28, individuals on our campus will continue to be required to wear face coverings during in-person classes and labs, in libraries, in the Student Health Center, on Torero trams and when using other university vehicles.
- Face coverings in other indoor settings will no longer be required, but they continue to be strongly recommended.
- Those who would like a KN95 face covering may go to Facilities Management front desk and one will be provided.
Updated Testing Guidelines
- As of March 28, Random COVID-19 testing will cease for the USD campus community.
- Weekly COVID-19 testing requirements will continue for those with COVID-19 vaccine exemptions through May 11.
- The San Diego County COVID-19 testing site at the west end of our campus will remain active, available and free for our campus community throughout the remainder of the Spring semester.
We will continue to monitor the situation across the country, in San Diego County and on campus. If the situation significantly changes, we will adjust our protocols to maintain a safe environment on campus.
Spring 2022 COVID-19 Safety Measures
In response to the impact of the COVD-19 virus and its variants, the University of San Diego has provided campus safety and instruction measures for the Spring 2022 semester.
USD Faculty, Staff and Student Vaccination and Booster Requirements
All faculty, students, staff and administrators are required to be vaccinated and have received a booster shot for the Spring 2022 semester. Those looking to make an appointment to get vaccinated may do so through the My Turn website. Employees who have been vaccinated and boostered must fill out the USD Employee Vaccination and Booster Form to verify proof of vaccination. Students who have been vaccinated must submit proof through the My Wellness portal.
A non-participation waiver for medical or religious reasons is also available through the Student Health Center website for both vaccinations and boosters. Students can apply for a medical or religious exemption from the booster through the links provided. Employees can also apply for a medical or religious exemption.
At this time, those not fully vaccinated or boostered will be subject to mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing. The university has developed a step-by-step guide for those required to participate in weekly COVID-19 testing on campus.
Those who test positive for COVID-19 should notify covidsupport@sandiego.edu. Students planning to study abroad are also required to be vaccinated.

2022 COVID-19 Quarantine Protocol

Recently, the CDC and the County of San Diego updated and shortened recommended isolation and quarantine periods for the general population based on data compiled on COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.

COVID-19 Testing on USD Campus and in San Diego County
The County of San Diego Public Health Department has a COVID-19 testing site on the USD campus. Additionally, the County of San Diego offers no-cost COVID-19 testing at several locations.
