In Fall 2023, the University of San Diego (USD) joined the JED Campus program, a multiyear partnership with The JED Foundation dedicated to enhancing student mental health and reducing suicide rates.
This initiative directly supports USD’s Lighting the Way to 2030 (Goal 1) and the Thriving Student Model, moving us toward a public health framework where every member of our community acts as an "open door" for students in need.
By implementing evidence-based practices and data-driven strategies, USD is working to foster a campus culture that prioritizes prevention, early intervention, and resilience.

Faculty & Staff Resource Guide
We invite all professional staff and faculty to be active partners in this work. This guide provides a framework for team discussions, training opportunities, and a checklist of action items to help your unit advance our campus-wide culture of care.
Download the Faculty & Staff Resource Guide (PDF)
To assess our campus-wide progress, an annual JED Check-In form will be sent to units. This form will align with the checklist found in the resource guide.
QPR Training
Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR is designed for our whole community to get trained in, including: students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Sign up for an upcoming QPR training here.
