Caroline Etland is an Associate Faculty member and the inaugural Kaye M. Woltman and Melisa R. McGuire Hospice and Palliative Care Education and Research Fellow. Dr. Etland received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama at Mobile Clinical Nurse Specialist program and her PhD from the University of San Diego (1996, 2008). Her expertise is in oncology, palliative care, ethics, vulnerable populations, caregivers and leadership. Her doctoral dissertation focused on mortality prognostication in skilled nursing home residents.
Dr. Etland is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau Zeta Mu chapter and the San Diego Coalition for Compassionate Care. She is a founding member of the Healthcare Surfaces Institute and serves on its Board of Directors.
