World-class physicists start here
Physics at USD prepares the next generation of physicists to rise above. To learn the science of the universe and then practice it.
Learning outcomes
After completing the physics program, students will be able to:
- Foundations: Examine physical scenarios using both a conceptual understanding of foundational physical principles and calculations using the appropriate methods in mathematical, theoretical, and computational physics.
- Scientific communication: Effectively communicate physics content through both written reports and oral presentation.
- Experimental Methods: Use modern experimental equipment and techniques to acquire data, assess the advantages and limitations of these techniques, and design experiments to leverage their probative power.
- Applications: Assess physics questions by applying their physics experience and knowledge to interpret experimental data and draw scientific conclusions.
