Congratulations to all of our alumni on these exciting updates!

Vincent Anthony '13 (MEd) and his wife recently welcomed a baby girl to their family.

Richard Bakken '13 (PhD) is now the Assistant Chief Information Officer at Stanford University.  He is leading the Support Services division that is part of Residential and Dining Enterprises (R&DE) Information Technology. 

Ginger Blackmon '07 (EdD) is Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She serves as Program Lead for the Educational Leadership program. 

Michael Angelo Camacho '16 (MA) recently became the Executive Administrator for The VAPA Foundation, an organization that seeks to transform the lives of students in the San Diego Unified School District through visual and performing arts.

Christopher Caylor '20 (MEd) accepted a full time teaching position at Mt. Carmel High school as a 12th grade Econ and 11th grade lit teacher.

Amy Daddario '19 (MEd) was promoted to the role of Special Education Manager at San Jose Unified School District. She began the Doctoral Program in Education at The University of Arizona in 2020.

Rebecca Frazee '08 (EdD) was thrilled to serve her community as sort of an 'edtech first responder' by providing professional development and support to over 1000 faculty as they transition to online teaching this past summer. She serves as the Associate Director of the Flexible Learning Environments Exchange initiative (FLEXspace.org) – an award-winning global open education resource of learning space examples and resources, with an international community of over 5000 members from 67 countries. They have recently begun gathering examples and evidence-based guidance for the design of more inclusive physical learning environments. And in response to the pandemic, FLEXspace has been able to provide valuable resources and guidance to the higher ed and K12 community as they struggle to reimagine and reconfigure physical learning spaces to consider social distancing needs. Through the FLEXspace open educational collaborative, Rebecca has had the opportunity to work closely with higher education leaders from the California State University Chancellor’s Office, California Community College Chancellor’s Office, the University of California Office of the Provost, the State University of New York Office of the Provost, Pennsylvania State University, EDUCAUSE, and the International Society for Technology in Education among others.

Ben Mendoza '15 (MA) began their role as a Council Representative for the Ninth District of the City of San Diego at the end of 2020.

Sonya Mohamed '17 (MA) and Sebastian Slovin '17 (MA) recently announced Nature Unplugged's upcoming book launch! Experience Nature Unplugged: A Guide to Wellness in the Digital Age will be available on Amazon and in bookstores nationwide, March 1, 2021.

Billy Piper '20 (MA) recently became the Volunteer Services Coordinator at Just In Time in San Diego, a nonprofit that helps transition age foster youth achieve self-sufficiency and well-being.

Melissa Ruiz '20 (MEd) graduated in August of 2020 from the online MEd program. She recently began a new teaching position as a middle school teacher and is so excited for this new opportunity! 

Donna Soukantouy '20 (MA) got married February 19, 2021.
