Following months of due diligence and evaluation, SDAC Fund VIII investors awarded $270,000 in funding—with all three winning companies being Brink clients.

The Brink SBDC's Spring AI Workshop Series concluded with a high-energy AI Startup Pitch Day at the University of San Diego. The Brink Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of San Diego welcomed over 150 high school students from the Summer Springboard Business & Entrepreneurship program at UC San Diego. Across three separate cohorts, students visited The Brink’s Innovation Center to explore the fundamentals of launching and growing a business and gain real-world insight into how the SBDC network supports startups and small businesses across the country.

The Brink SBDC has wrapped up its 6-part AI Workshop Series, led by Brink Advisor Pankaj Kedia—renowned AI investor, advisor and adjunct MBA professor at The Knauss School of Business at the University of San Diego. The series brought together a mix of founders, investors, students and faculty eager to deepen their understanding of artificial intelligence and its transformative potential.

The Brink Small Business Development Center at the University of San Diego recently wrapped up its Pitch Prep for the SDAC series, a program designed to help entrepreneurs refine their business strategies and perfect their pitches in preparation for the San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC). 

In January 2025, a group of nearly 30 CEOs from the Japan Management Consultants Association visited the region with a two-day itinerary coordinated in part by the Ahlers Center for International Business . Their main goal was to learn about the business environment for possible investments, tie-ups, and other opportunities. Hosted by Mr. Masaru (Mas) Sakamoto, Partner for BGV Group Ventures and board member of the Ahlers Center, they began their trip with a visit to Las Vegas for the CES conference and stopped by the University of San Diego (USD) to hear about our local startup ecosystem. 

Knauss School of Business Master of Science in Real Estate student Brice Hamilton’s passion captured the attention of judges and attendees alike when pitching his groundbreaking business concept to help address a serious unmet medical need. His seating solution, DecompressX, won the grand prize of $15,000 at the University of San Diego’s Fowler Business Concept Challenge (FBCC) on December 6.
