USD holds its annual luncheon to recognize the importance of scholarships
The University of San Diego (USD) hosted its 35th Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday afternoon in the Hahn University Forums. More than 200 people attended the event held annually during the spring semester to unite scholarship benefactors and student scholarship recipients in celebration of their unwavering commitment to a USD education.
The event featured keynote speaker Darlene Marcos Shiley, longtime USD philanthropist and Chair Emerita of USD’s Board of Trustees.
USD President James T. Harris III, DEd, said the luncheon is the ultimate expression that embodies the university’s mission and vision statements.
“To our donors, please know that, through your generosity, you are helping to advance academic excellence,” he said. “You are creating hope for these students. You are confronting challenges. You are leading with love. It’s a true expression of love, to give the way you’ve given — to the next generation of students, to these young scholars, whom you may be meeting for the very first time today.”
