History Alumni Spotlight: Rebby Onken

USD Alumna Rebby Onken ‘22 (BA) shared her reflections on her academic journey and the Department of History’s role in shaping her scholarly pursuits. "The history department at USD always encouraged me to experiment by searching out new ideas and applying them to my work." she said.

Since graduating, Onken has continued to build on her academic foundation. She spent a post-baccalaureate year at the University of Pennsylvania in their Classics department and completed a master's in social sciences at the University of Chicago. "I am currently applying to PhD programs in medieval history, where I hope to continue my work with manuscripts and medieval history," she said.

Onken credits USD History with setting her up to succeed in her academic career. She shared, “Without their support, I would not be the bold, multi-faceted scholar that I am today!”
