Maddy Domingo, USD international relations (BA/MA) candidate and communication studies (BA) student, was awarded the Teaching Assistant Award from Fulbright Thailand. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest cultural exchange program of its kind with more than 140 partnering countries worldwide. Young professionals, graduate students, and graduating college students are given the opportunity to undertake research or teach English abroad. Domingo will be participating in the English Teaching Assistant program in Thailand. Starting in September 2023, Domingo will attend an in-country orientation and then complete her 12-month grant by September 2024.

In Thailand, she will provide assistance to local English teachers for primary and secondary students. "In addition to my responsibilities in the classroom, I plan to engage with Thai music by joining a choir in my area, host stretching and yoga sessions to promote movement that stimulates learning in the classroom especially for young students, and volunteer for beach cleanups and environmental non profit work to help diminish plastic pollution across the country. I am most excited to aid Thai students advancing their English language skills, expose myself and integrate with Thai culture, and further the diplomatic mission between Thailand and the U.S," Domingo said.
