Former Polish President Lech Wałęsa Visits USD
Former Polish president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Wałęsa spoke among other things about current global events, the fall of Communism and the next generation of peacekeepers during a visit to the University of San Diego on Nov. 16.
Wałęsa was the featured guest of the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice’s Distinguished Lecture Series. His talk was titled “The Fall of Communism, Russia and the War in Ukraine.”
The 79-year-old Wałęsa was the first democratically elected leader of Poland since 1926. He served from 1990-95. He was also the co-founder of the Solidarity Movement.
