Advancing Women in Real Estate; MSRE Inclusion Scholarships

The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate announced an MSRE Inclusion Scholarship Fund in February 2021 that provides financial support for women in the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program.
The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate is committed to advancing women in real estate with a limited number of tuition scholarships for women who apply to the Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program.
A CREW Network 2020 Benchmark Study on Gender and Diversity in Commercial Real Estate reported that approximately 36.7 percent of all professionals in commercial real estate are women. Further, the report also stated that while the commercial real estate sector has experienced dramatic swings over the past 15 years—primarily as a result of a recession and other economic changes—the presence and status of women has remained mostly stable, with only slight progress for women. In a recent 2021 CREW Network Career Center email, CREW reports that “women are excelling in lucrative CRE careers, yet occupy just 37 percent of the industry and obtain less than one-third of real estate related degrees.”
The University of San Diego's Knauss School of Business and the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate are committed to shaping the next generation of commercial real estate professionals and advancing women in real estate. Approximately 35 percent of USD undergraduate real estate majors are women, yet women seeking advanced education in USD’s Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program have averaged just 19 percent.
Thanks to generous donors, we are pleased to announce this new MSRE Inclusion Scholarship Fund that will provide additional support for women in the MSRE program. Contact Catherine Northcutt for more information about this scholarship and the MSRE program.
