Dr. Theresa S. Byrd is Dean of the University Library at the University of San Diego. She previously served as Chief Information Officer and Director of Libraries at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Dr. Byrd was recently elected to a three-year term on the HathiTrust Board of Governors. She serves on the OCLC Board of Trustees and the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC) Board. Dr. Byrd also is a member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Multicultural Populations Committee, and the Center for Research Libraries Human Resources and Compensation Committee.

Her past professional leadership roles have included the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) Steering Committee, the American Library Association (ALA) Committee on Library Accreditation, the Association of College and Research Libraries Board of Directors, and the Chair of the Ohionet Board. Dr. Byrd has extensive library consortia experience in California, Ohio, and Virginia. Dr. Byrd’s research interests include mentoring, emotional intelligence, academic library leaders, and other topics. She is active in local, national, and international organizations.

Dr. Byrd holds as EdD from the University of Virginia, MEd from Virginal Commonwealth University, MLS from North Carolina Central University, and a BA from Shaw University.
