Mission Statement
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – Lambda Iota Chapter was established at San Diego State University in 1979, bringing the proud legacy of Sigma to the San Diego community. Founded in 1914 at Howard University, Phi Beta Sigma is built on the core principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, and is committed to living out its motto: “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.” The brothers of Phi Beta Sigma are the fraternity’s greatest strength—driven, principled men who serve as the foundation for achieving its mission. The Lambda Iota Chapter embodies these ideals by fostering academic excellence, creating meaningful service opportunities, and cultivating a strong, supportive brotherhood.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. belongs to the Multicultural Greek Council at USD and is a city-wide chapter, meaning they have members and host programming on nearby campuses such as SDSU and UCSD in addition to USD's campus. Follow them on Instagram to stay connected.
