Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Nu Upsilon Chapter was chartered at the University of California, San Diego in 1977. Founded in 1913 by 22 visionary women at Howard University, Delta Sigma Theta is a distinguished public service sorority rooted in a legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, and service, with a strong emphasis on uplifting the African American community. The organization’s mission is brought to life through its signature Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, which focuses on: economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement.
