First-Generation Network and Action Team
Join the First-Gen Network to share and receive information and resources that better support the first-generation experience at USD. This Network is open to the entire USD community whether you identify as first-gen college student or want to support this population at USD.
The First-Gen Action Team is a cross-divisional collaboration tasked with creating and sustaining campus-wide efforts to proactively engage and support USD's First-Generation college students while at USD and post-graduation. In addition, we strive to attain retention and graduation rates equal to, or greater than, the USD average.
The First-Gen Action Team will be meeting on the third Thursday of every month from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. These meetings are open to all undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Please email firstgen@sandiego.edu to receive additional details for these meetings.
What does the "First-Generation" pin mean?
The "First Generation" pin serves as a symbol of pride for taking an important step toward successfully completing a higher education degree. Students, faculty, staff and administrators who wear the pin identify as First-Gen College Student and embrace it as part of our USD experience.

First-Generation Graduation Celebration Pin
The First-Generation Graduation Celebration pin is awarded to graduates who attend our ceremony at the end of each year. You will be celebrated with a certificate and pin, and enjoy fun activities such as photo opportunities and a more intimate graduation celebration for your family to see your achievement.
First-Generation Family Pin
This pin is reserved for the families of our first-gen students.
