Arturo Leon Sandoval, PhD

Teaching Pathway Postdoctoral Faculty, Chemistry and Biochemistry

  • PHD, UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT: CHEMISTRY
  • BS, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA DAVIS: PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY

Arturo León Sandoval, PhD (University of Connecticut), joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as a postdoctoral faculty member in 2024. Originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, and raised in Northern California, he brings a passion for mentoring students and supporting their academic growth. He is dedicated to creating inclusive learning environments, particularly for underrepresented and first-generation students.

Dr. León Sandoval’s journey to chemistry was not straightforward—he initially struggled with the subject in community college, even failing his first attempt at general chemistry. This challenge, however, sparked his passion for the field and ultimately led him to pursue a Ph.D. His research currently focuses on boron-phosphorus coupling, aiming to generate novel compounds and study their potential to bifunctionalize carbonyls.

He is eager to embark on new research projects and explore the local area while building connections within the university community.
