At USD, we have faculty from a variety of different disciplines who are passionate about the fostering the knowledge, skills, and values that are central to the practice of changemaking. They are committed to offering changemaking opportunities in their classes, who pursue changemaking in their scholarship, and who advance social justice at USD and beyond. These faculty work with students and community members to ensure that issues are addressed with an understanding of local context and with an appreciation of community as well as academic knowledge.
Changemaker Faculty Fellows
Changemaker Faculty Fellows show passion for innovative pedagogy in their respective fields, for their scholarship, and their commitment to co-develop USD Changemaker Campus. Since its inception in 2012, over 100 USD faculty members, from every academic unit on campus, have participated in this initiative. These faculty have collaborated in different ways to create meaningful and transformative initiatives for their teaching, research, and community engagement.
Impact Linda Vista Initiative (ILVI)
The Impact Linda Vista Initiative is an educational and community engagement program designed to develop empathy and changemaker capabilities among USD students while creating economic and social value in the Linda Vista Community. The initiative highlights current needs and opportunities by presenting issues such as the access that low-income groups have to financial and other services.
