Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate
Upon completion of the GIS certificate, students should be able to:
1: Comprehend fundamental concepts and practices of Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
2: Produce effective maps and/or other forms of geospatial visualization using geospatial data, following cartographic and map design principles;
3: Understand processes and methods of geospatial data acquisition and to construct geospatial databases using vector and raster data for projects in a variety of fields;
4: Analyze geospatial data (vector and raster) using appropriate geoprocessing tools to reveal and analyze spatial patterns that may be meaningful for interdisciplinary applications of GIS; and
5: Effectively communicate and present project results in oral, written, and graphic (map) forms.
