USD Water Sports classes are run through the Mission Bay Aquatic Center, which is the world's largest instructional waterfront facility.
The Mission Bay Aquatic Center is located at 1001 Santa Clara Place in Mission Beach, about one mile north of the Belmont Park Roller Coaster.
You will need to provide your own transportation to the Aquatic Center.
You may take any MBAC class as a non-credit class. If you'd like to receive elective credit for taking a MBAC class, please review the process outlined in the section below. Only certain classes qualify as USD elective credit classes.

All MBAC classes will have a remote-only option that involves an online learning module to walk students through the key concepts associated with each class.
For-Credit MBAC Classes:
- To receive a .5 credit for taking an MBAC class, please sign up for your desired class with your MySanDiego student registration portal using the desired CRN code. Times of specific sections are NOT listed in our USD course listing as you need to pick your own section from the MBAC course catalog.
- Visit the USD MBAC website and select a qualifying class and section
- You must register and pay directly with the MBAC
- USD students do not receive the "UCSD/SDSU student discount" since our student tuition does not directly support the MBAC
- Register for the class on the MBAC website or call (858) 488-1000
- All credit classes must be completed by the last day of classes as posted in the University Academic Calendar. Any person who fails to complete a course by the stated deadline will receive an F as a grade.
Non-Credit MBAC Classes:
- Visit the MBAC website and select a qualifying class and section
- You must register and pay directly with the MBAC
- USD students do not receive the "UCSD/SDSU student discount" since our student tuition does not directly support the MBAC

Enjoy California's most exciting sport. Intended to give a beginner a safe and structured introduction to surfing. Classes include lectures on the mechanics of beach and waves, surfboard handling and the techniques necessary to stand and ride a wave. Surfboards are provided, wetsuits are available at one dollar per class.
*Note: for-credit registration: First register with your MySanDiego portal using the course CRN code to earn .5 credits. This will charge the $10 USD enrollment fee to your student account. Then, ensure to register and pay for your desired Surfing section with the MBAC (there are a few from which to choose).
Transportation is not provided to any MBAC off-campus class.
Wakeboarding is a fun and adventurous way to get out on the water. In this course, you will be given the opportunity to learn how to wakeboard or learn new skills, as our instructors are qualified to teach multiple skill levels. Plus, nothing beats catching air behind one of our Super Air Nautiques!
