USD Student Employees
If you are hired and are a current USD student, please note most USD students work an average of 10 hours per week, with a maximum of 25 hours per week (for all campus positions) during the fall and spring semesters as per University policy. All student employees are required to notify their hiring supervisor if they currently have, or receive, another on-campus job at any point throughout their employment.
Only Federal Work Study (FWS) positions are offered at the Sports Center. Limited Casual Worker positions are available for Intramural Officiating.

Campus Recreation Temporary and/or Part-Time Positions:
Recreation Instructor Position Description:
The Campus Recreation class instructor teaches assigned recreation/fitness classes to the University of San Diego campus community. Instructors are responsible for leading their class during assigned class times, maintaining a safe classroom environment, supporting the Thriving Student Model, and recording class attendance and grades for credit class participants.
Class Openings
*all class days and times are set and cannot be adjusted
- Tennis (beginning): Wednesdays 5:30-6:26pm
- Tennis (intermed/adv): Wednesdays 6:30-7:25pm
- Pickleball (multi-level): Tuesdays 12:45-2pm
- Masters Swim: Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm
- Tai Chi: Sundays 2:30-3:30pm
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and healthy instructional environment.
- Effectively communicate, demonstrate and instruct the skills required of the listed course.
- Create and communicate class syllabus to all participants (syllabus template provided).
- Take and record attendance every class.
- Submit midterm and final grades per University deadlines.
Instructor Qualifications/Requirements:
- Current certification in the class format for which you are applying (or equivalent experience).
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications (required to show proof by first date of employment).
- Ability to communicate verbally and electronically with all class participants.
- Past teaching experience in the related field/format for which you are applying.
- Personal fitness level necessary to teach the assigned course.
- Team player, friendly, outgoing, caring, responsible, reliable and able to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to commit to the entire duration of the class semester schedule.
Other Work Conditions:
- All employees will be exposed to moderate to loud noise conditions.
Employment Dates:
- January 26 - May 11, 2026
Pay Rate:
- $25-$60 per hour (pay will be offered pending education in the field and experience in the field)

USD Intramural Sports is hiring sport officials for the Fall 2026 Intramural Season. We currently have openings for flag football, soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball. No officiating experience is necessary, but knowledge of the sport is required. Paid training provided.
