Program Planning and Grant Proposal Writing
Increasingly, nonprofits are being called upon by their stakeholders to provide “proof” that their programs are successful. While most nonprofit leaders agree that collecting data and measuring success is important, the ability to document tangible outcomes remains elusive for many organizations. Building on an established program planning framework, participants will learn how to: (1) identify measurable outcomes; (2) draft detailed goals and objectives linked to specific program outcomes; (3) locate the tools needed to measure and record outcomes; and (4) complete an evaluation planning document for their organization. After learning more about program planning, participants will learn how to: (1) how to present program proposals to foundations for new and existing programs; (2) learn best practices in grant proposal writing

Nonprofit Financial Management
This session will introduce basic concepts in nonprofit financial management. Specifically, you will learn how to read and interpret three ubiquitous financial statements required of any organization: (1) operating statement, (2) statement of cash flow, and (3) statement of position. These three fundamental financial statements provide an overview of organizational activities, summary of major revenue sources, organizational assets, and most importantly, a profile of the organization’s financial health. As nonprofit organizations are required to report their financial activities and results to a variety of outside parties (including government and private foundations) to ensure and transparency and accountability, a fundamental understanding of how to read and interpret financial statements is a vital step in effective nonprofit management.
