A recent message from our alum, Lt. Stacy Nilsen, APRN, on board the USS Bataan in Haiti:
Lt. Stacy Nilsen, MSN ’09, was on the USS Bataan for the humanitarian mission to Haiti after a devastating earthquake. “There isn’t really much use for a CNS out here, but I’m doing trauma ICU,” said Nilsen in an email.
“We are seeing lots of horrible old ortho injuries that are now getting infected. This is definitely austere nursing with very limited resources and a great need. . . We should be here at least 90 days.”
At the end of her email update to the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science, Nilsen thanked the school for everything.
“We are well prepared,” she said.
