Katie Sciurba
Adjunct Faculty
Katie Sciurba has been teaching at the University of San Diego since 2009. She received her PhD in English Education from New York University in 2011. In addition, she holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and an MS in Education from Mercy College.
Scholarly and Creative Work
Katie's scholarly publications include articles and book chapters related to multi-culturalism, children's literature, popular culture (in the K-12 classroom), single-sex schooling for Black and Latino males, and children's responses to texts. She also writes works for children, most notably the picture book Oye, Celia!: A Song for Celia Cruz (Henry Holt, 2007).
Teaching Interests
Her courses at USD have included Advanced Composition for Educators, Children’s Literature, and Composition and Literature (for Educators).
