University Galleries

Drop Shadow

The University of San Diego proudly houses four exhibition spaces: the Hoehn Family Galleries, the May Gallery, the Fine Art Galleries and the Exhibit Hall. These galleries feature a variety of different genres and themed exhibitions. A majority of these gallery events are scheduled during the academic school year.

Derrick Cartwright, PhD., became the Director of University Galleries in August, 2012. Dr. Cartwright brings a broad spectrum of academic and art museum experiences to his new post. He was most recently the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Director of the Seattle Art Museum. Prior to that, he led the San Diego Museum of Art from 2004-2009. Dr. Cartwright is also the author of dozens of articles and catalogue essays on the history of American painting, photography, public art and Franco-American cultural exchange.  The following galleries are located on the USD campus:
