Parking on Campus
Visitor parking at USD is free to the public, though obtaining a permit is required. Guard houses are located at each campus entrance where an attendant can issue a visitor parking permit and direct you to the nearest parking structure. Please note, although campus parking is free you will be ticketed if you do not receive a parking permit.
The closest entrance to the Robert and Karen Hoehn Family Galleries and the KIPJ Fine Art Galleries is the West Entrance, also known as Marian Way. This street leads straight up the hill, where visitors can find street parking on weekends close to Founders Hall and the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. During days in which classes are in session, it is recommended to park in the West Parking Structure, and take the complimentary tram up the hill to the first stop. Signs are located prominently on the lawns in front of each structure identifying the building.
The David W. May Gallery in Serra Hall is located on the East side of campus, closest to the Main Entrance at the top of the hill. The closest parking is the Mission Parking Structure, or street parking on Torero Way.
Visitors with disability license plates or placards can find a number of blue disabled parking spaces throughout main campus and near each of the galleries. Parking attendants at each entrance can direct visitors to these locations.
Ticketing & Fees
All University Galleries exhibitions and programs are free to the public unless otherwise noted. No reservations are required unless large groups are requesting a tour. Docent tours are not available, however educational material such as labels, exhibition brochures and sample catalogues are always provided. For security reasons, galleries can not be opened for individuals requesting to attend outside of posted hours. Please see "Exhibitions" pages to review open hours specific to each exhibition.
Campus trams also run every 10 - 15 minutes regularly during the academic year. Tram stops are denoted by posted signs, and run throughout campus, with express shuttles running from main campus to both parking structures. Tram routes and schedule can be reviewed here prior to your visit.
