The University of San Diego's community of scholars is dedicated to the pursuit of truth, academic excellence, and advancement of knowledge in liberal arts and professional programs. Independent, comprehensive, and Catholic, the University provides a values-based education to all students in its College and Schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business Administration, the School of Leadership & Education Sciences, the School of Law, and the School of Nursing and Health Science. The University will also soon include a sixth major academic unit with the founding of the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies in September 2005. The University offers doctoral programs, master's programs, a Juris Doctor and graduate law degrees, and undergraduate programs. The quality of the academic programs of the University was recently confirmed by the charter of the University's own chapter of Phi Beta Kappa the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the United States.
The University has a friendly campus atmosphere, opportunity for close rapport between faculty and students, class sizes that facilitate personal attention and instructor accessibility.
