Dr. Mariia Levchenko is an award-winning international affairs professional, recognized with the Luxembourg Peace Prize in 2023 for her contributions to peacebuilding. She is also a former Community Solutions Fellow (2017), a Chevening Scholar (2019-2020), and a McCain Institute Leader (2022). Dr. Levchenko currently serves as the Project Manager at the Berghof Foundation and as the Senior Protection Advisor at the Center for Civilians in Conflict, focusing on community-based protection initiatives in Ukraine and peacebuilding efforts in Ethiopia.
With a Ph.D. in International Economics and a Master’s in International Relations, her academic and professional pursuits span over a decade of facilitating dialogue, training, and project management in conflict resolution. Dr. Levchenko has collaborated with a variety of esteemed international organizations, including Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), United States Institute of Peace (USIP), Peace Action, Training, and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) and River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding.
Dr. Levchenko has designed and led peace initiatives across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, demonstrating her deep commitment to empowering civil society and enhancing stakeholder engagement through strategic planning and multicultural communication.
Dr. Levchenko’s publications contribute to the academic and practical understanding of peacebuilding, including works on the role of women in conflict zones and the use of technology in conflict resolution. She is actively involved in several professional bodies, including as a rostered mediator with OSCE and a member of the McCain Global Leaders Panel. An expert trainer and practitioner in "Dialogue and Peacebuilding," she specializes in dialogue programs, facilitation, conflict resolution, and trauma healing.
