Student Fellowship Funding
The USD School of Law values and supports students who are dedicated to public service, whether their interest focuses on working in the court system, public defender’s office, DA, or legal aid. Students are advancing their legal education by honing their skills working for non-profit organizations dedicated to increasing access to justice for those who cannot otherwise afford legal representation or law-related government agencies. Most government and nonprofit employers, however, do not provide paid positions for students to learn their craft. Rather these organizations oftentimes can only bring students on as unpaid interns. That's where the USD School of Law Fellowship Program comes in to provide the necessary funding to allow more students to accept valuable work experiences. The USD School of Law supporters understand how important it is for students to provide valuable legal expertise while also extending their skills as practicing legal interns. That is why they choose to contribute to Public Interest Fellows – to help the community of San Diego while advancing legal education at USD.
