Professional Experience
Robert Bowen is an international trade attorney who has dedicated more than two decades of his career to the laws that apply to global trade. His experience has included service in the United States Government, in the private practice of law, and as in-house counsel in corporate legal departments. As an Attorney-Advisor at the United States Department of Commerce, Robert’s focus was on the World Trade Organization and the formulation of United States Government trade laws and policies. In private practice and in a corporate setting, his primary focus has been on export control laws, customs laws, trade sanctions laws, and foreign direct investment laws. He has significant experience in the trade laws that apply to global supply chains in the technology sector, including United States tariff laws and United States laws impacting trade and investment between the United States and China. In addition to practice experience, Robert has enjoyed opportunities to teach international trade law at educational institutions in the United States and Korea. Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, and a Masters in Law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the State Bars of California and Michigan.
