Professional Experience

Professor Cox is an accomplished legal professional with experience in trial law and criminal prosecutions. Currently serving as a Deputy District Attorney at the San Diego District Attorney's Office since January 2015, Professor Cox has successfully handled numerous felony trials and misdemeanor trials, including cases involving murder, attempted murder, rape, child molest, narcotics offenses, robbery, residential burglaries, human trafficking, and criminal threats. With expertise in prosecuting sexually violent predator cases and conducting initial commitments and release petitions, Professor Cox has been an invaluable asset to the San Diego District Attorney's Office. Additionally, she has provided extensive legal training, including sessions on racial bias, preliminary hearings, direct examination techniques, bail considerations, human trafficking prosecutions, and felony trial advocacy. Professor Cox has also demonstrated her commitment to education by coaching the Mock Trial Team at San Diego State University, imparting trial skills and advocacy knowledge to students.
