The following software applications come pre-installed on all university provided computers (there is no need to request these titles on any newly ordered computer systems):
- The latest supported browsers for Internet use (IE, Firefox, Safari)
- Microsoft Office Professional
- USD owns an Enterprise Campus License for MS Office. You may upgrade to the latest version at no cost to you or your department. Simply request Microsoft Office Pro on the order form to request an upgrade license.
- We also offer Office 365 at no cost to USD faculty, staff or students. Learn more about this here [link to service catalog]
- Crowdstrike Falcon (PC) & JAMF Protect (macOS) Endpoint Security
- Installed and updated by ITS. This is required for all ITS managed endpoints. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Additional titles may be acquired by completing the 3-step process outlined below. Follow these steps to acquire your supported or non-supported software.
Procedures to Acquire Software from USD
- Supported Software is defined as any software application made available to faculty and staff as part of our Volume Discount Program. You can view the list here.
- Non-supported software is any software application that is not on the current list. Learn more about how to obtain non-supported software.
For Supported Software
Choose from Available Titles Browse our list of supported software.
Submit the Order Form. Incomplete forms cannot be processed.
Check your mail. ITS will contact you to let you know if your request was approved.
For Non-Supported Software
Get Departmental Approval. Obtain approval from your department head.
Send an email to software@sandiego.edu. Please include the name of the software. purpose for needing this software, a link to the software's page on the vendor's website and any pricing information you may have.
Check your mail. ITS will contact you to let you know if your request was approved.
