The Parents Fund helps support university projects, initiatives and other needs that might not otherwise be possible. Gifts to the Parents Fund support much needed scholarships, the development of academic programs and the enhancement of campus facilities.

Each year the Parents Association works with the Provost to determine the best way to allocate this year’s funding. This year, the board voted to support students in the following ways:
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The USD chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers shares in its national mission to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. Support from the Parents Fund enables these students to attend annual conferences and more.
International Study Abroad
Gifts to the Parents Fund also provided travel funds for study abroad experiences. USD undergraduate students have the opportunity to live and study in over 30 countries for a year, semester, summer or intersession while earning USD credit offered in over 80 different programs. While abroad, students can participate in research, internships, community service learning, practicums and student teaching.
Changemaker Student Fellows
The Changemaker Student Fellows consist of student leaders who will be responsible for a range of activities within the Changemaker Hub. By providing these student leaders with a stipend, it provides them with the opportunity to dedicate their time to changemaking rather than having a part-time job.
Changemaker Challenge
The Changemaker Challenge is an annual idea competition that invites students to employ their imagination, grit, and passion for generating ideas to address a current social challenge or need proposed by leaders from the San Diego region.
