Dr. Maren Mossman Receives Prestigious NSF Award to Advance Quantum ResearchAugust 29, 2024Dr. Maren Mossman, the Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of San Diego, has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to expand quantum research across the United States. The grant, titled Quantum Analog Simulation with Bose-Einstein Condensates in Flexible Light Fields , marks a great achievement for Dr. Mossman, who is one of only 23 recipients selected to advance these cutting-edge projects.
Paper Submission Recognition ProgramAugust 14, 2024With so many demands on faculty time and looming deadlines, we recognize that it is hard to find the time and motivation to complete papers in progress and submit them to peer-reviewed journals. To offer support, t he Office of the Provost and Center for Inclusion and Diversity are offering 3 deadlines throughout the year to encourage faculty to submit their papers. All faculty who submit a paper to a peer-reviewed journal before the deadline , and upload details and proof of submission here , will be invited to a recognition reception and be featured on the USD faculty research support webpage . We will also have a raffle for an Aromas gift card to help faculty fuel future writing projects. The submission deadlines for this coming year are: September 1, 2024, February 1, 2025, and June 1, 2025
Paper Submission Recognition ProgramMay 23, 2024Dear USD faculty, With so many demands on your time and looming deadlines, we recognize that it is hard to find the time and motivation to complete papers in progress and submit them to peer-reviewed journals. Let’s work together as a community to get over the finish line! To encourage submission of articles to peer-reviewed journals, the Office of the Provost and Center for Inclusion and Diversity are offering 3 deadlines throughout the year to encourage faculty to submit their papers. All faculty who submit a paper to a peer-reviewed journal before the deadline, and upload details and proof of submission here , will be invited to a recognition reception and be featured on the USD faculty research support webpage . We will also have a raffle for an Aromas gift card to help faculty fuel future writing projects. Once the paper has been published, the faculty member can submit the citation here to be featured on the USD website. Upon publication, the faculty member will also have the opportunity to be considered for a feature story and/or a talk at a CID Fireside Chat. We plan to feature monthly spotlights on published papers and their authors, and offer other avenues to promote the published work. The submission deadlines for this coming year are: JUNE 1, 2024 *for paper submitted after February 1, 2024 September 1, 2024 February 1, 2025 To support faculty in the writing process we will be hosting bimonthly Writing Hideaways where faculty are encouraged to come and write in peace amongst a community of colleagues working towards the same goal. Come for as little or as long as you like! Hideaways will take place in the Copley Faculty Reading Room on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month starting June 7: 1st Friday - 8:30am - 12:30pm 3rd Friday - 11am - 3pm Register HERE for reminders about writing hideaways, submission deadlines, recognition receptions, and other writing support opportunities.
